Information on your FLED 411 Final Projects

For your final projects, you will be working in pairs. Your pair can be from your section or the other section, it really doesn’t matter.

With your partner, you should prepare an ELT textbook unit whose intended audience is young adult/adolescent Turkish learners of English as a foreign language studying at a private school in İstanbul. The teacher and the learners should be able to cover the unit within one week.

Before designing your unit, make sure that you decide and state
the objectives and goals of your unit
methodology you would like your units to be framed with
an overall blurb for your textbook.

In your units, you should have all the following components

- both linguistic and content goals
- opportunuties for students to learn from content, from process, learning to learn and use their higher order thinking skills
- authentic input
- input in a variety of forms
- appropriate sequencing of task and exercises
- task continuity
- visuals that enhance learning
- a CALL component that supports your goals and objectives.

Due date: Your final projects are due on January 18, 2010.

Delieverables:
- a seperate document that states the objectives and methodology of the unit and the blurb of the textbook
- the unit itself .
